I recently discovered works of the renowned writer, poet Edgar Allan Poe, who also was an extremely stern ruthless literary critic and with no doubt his work has been quite alot fascinating to go through at least once. An alcoholic, pale, sickly author's obsession with death and darkness has by now foreseen a timeless mark on literature.
Father of detective fiction, poems haunting and hypnotic, and a master of stories from gothic horror, his style holds the ability to turn readers into active participants. Poe's creations turn out to be even more acclaiming because of how he has made every single word contribute in all of his works. They are interestingly readable over single sittings.
Much of his work revolves around love, grief and guilt, targeting human minds. It may really get dark at times, but numerous readers since ever, have loved reading them, because it's relatable and real.
Alone is one such poem he writes of his real life childhood experiences. It mostly considers into the path of a depressed child, who is unfortunately not experiencing normal and has had a demon of loneliness clouding his view.
